A WORKSHOP A DAY: Why Making Still Matters at the 16/16 Makerspace
For over five years, the building at 30 Ajasa Street, Onikan—known to its community as Plan B— has stood as a crucial cultural hub, maker-space, and lab for experimentation in the city. This year, we celebrate our commitment to craft in the city with a series of workshops.

The 16/16 Makerspace is a spiritual successor to the work pioneered by the hFACTOR Collective (of which our Creative Director was a member) at its earlier location on 26 Moloney Street. The collective was built on the radical idea of using thematic, collaborative community engagement to uncover creative and cultural possibilities. It proposed a unique blend of artistry with social impact, reflecting the city’s grassroots vibrance through exhibitions in public space, vital roundtables, and, crucially, the workshop model—a program that previously included acclaimed sessions with artists and designers like Seetal Solanki, Ranti Bam, Hot Wire Extensions, and Planet 3R.
Continuing this tradition, Plan B became a beacon for activations and workshops, serving as an aggregator of creativity—bringing diverse talents, crafts, and ideas under one roof. We believe in a world where creativity can interact with the city in profoundly tactile ways, imagining a future in which residents of a city can actively change the physical and material makeup of their neighbourhoods for the better.
Our Activities in 2025
This year has been defined by a renewed focus on process and material. We’ve hosted a range of successful sessions, including a cyanotype workshop, an immersive theatre workshop, and another successful Makerspace Market that, this year, acted as a dynamic aggregator for the design, artisan, and manufacturing industries.
